At GF New Energy Technologies, we continue to upgrade our solar tracker control algorithms to help customers achieve higher energy yield and greater system stability. Our enhanced Smart Night-Position Mode is specifically designed to ensure that solar trackers enter each new day in the best possible position to capture early sunlight and start generating power sooner.
Unlike generic fixed-angle nighttime settings, GF controllers use a more effective strategy based on real project experience:
The tracker automatically returns to a flat (0°) horizontal position.
As soon as first light is detected based on astronomical calculations, the tracker quickly moves to its maximum allowable sunrise angle (e.g., the steepest east-facing angle allowed by system design).
This ensures the panels face the sun as early as possible, maximizing the first hours of daily energy production.
The tracker starts from a neutral angle and immediately shifts to its optimal sunrise orientation, reducing delay and capturing more low-angle irradiance.
A flat position minimizes wind load, lowering structural stress while the plant is unattended.
Horizontal alignment helps snow slide off and prevents uneven dust buildup overnight.
Since the tracker’s night position is predictable and consistent, the system performs cleaner, more controlled morning movements.
The controller adjusts these angles daily using:
Local sunrise calculations
Seasonal variations
Site latitude
Astronomical algorithms
Operators do not need to modify any settings throughout the year.
The Smart Night-Position Mode is supported by the same core technologies that power GF’s high-precision tracking:
Astronomical sun-position calculations
Dynamic angle transitions
Seasonal & geographical adaptation
Motor protection & soft-start logic
NCU centralized scheduling (optional)
These capabilities ensure that the morning movement is optimized, safe, and coordinated across the entire site.
This strategy is already deployed and validated in real projects across:
China
India
Brazil
USA
Europe
Africa
Customers report earlier daily startup, smoother tracker motion, and measurable gains in morning energy production.
Smart Night-Position Mode marks another important step in GF’s ongoing effort to enhance tracker intelligence and optimize field performance.
Additional intelligent features — including improved backtracking, enhanced motor control, and upcoming AI-supported functions — are also under active development.
