To further enhance system safety and reliability, GF New Energy Technologies is proud to announce that its solar tracker controllers fully support wind sensor integration, enabling automatic stow functionality for Solar tracking systems under high wind conditions.
In utility-scale solar power plants, strong winds can cause excessive stress on tracker structures, leading to potential mechanical damage or misalignment. The new GF controller update allows the system to automatically receive wind speed data from external sensors and trigger protective stow actions when predefined thresholds are reached.
Once the wind speed exceeds the set limit, the controller immediately commands all trackers to move to a horizontal or safe-angle position, minimizing wind load and protecting the modules and mechanical components. When conditions normalize, the system automatically resumes standard solar tracking.
Real-Time Wind Speed Monitoring
The controller continuously collects data from wind sensors to ensure instant response to environmental changes.
Configurable Threshold Settings
Operators can define wind speed limits according to local climate conditions and tracker structure specifications.
Smooth and Safe Movement
The control algorithm ensures stable motor operation and synchronized movement across multiple tracker rows during emergency stow.
Automatic Recovery
After wind speeds return to normal, the controller automatically reactivates solar tracking, ensuring uninterrupted power generation.
By integrating the wind sensor interface, the GF controller now provides an extra layer of safety for large-scale solar farms, especially in regions prone to strong seasonal winds or tropical climates.
This improvement not only protects the mechanical system but also reduces downtime and maintenance costs, increasing overall plant availability.
At GF New Energy Technologies, we are committed to developing smarter and safer solar tracking solutions.
The wind-sensor-enabled automatic stow function is another step forward in our mission to ensure stability, efficiency, and long-term reliability for every solar project.
